VERDESO® Foam FAQs

Q. What is the indication for VERDESO® Foam?

A: VERDESO® Foam is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis in patients 3 months of age and older.1

Q. How should I use VERDESO® Foam?

A: Patients should use VERDESO® Foam for the minimum amount of time necessary to achieve the desired results because of the potential for VERDESO® Foam to suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Treatment should not exceed 4 consecutive weeks.1

Q. How much VERDESO® Foam should I use?

A: The exact amount needed depends on the size of the affected area and the amount of hair covering it. Dispense the smallest amount of foam necessary to adequately cover the affected area(s) with a thin layer.1

Q. How will VERDESO® Foam feel on my skin?

A: VERDESO® Foam disappears quickly after application. The foam base is ethanol free, so it feels soothing on eczematous skin (skin that may be cracked or open). VERDESO® Foam also spreads easily over multiple body areas.2

Q. How often should I apply VERDESO® Foam?

A: It is recommended that VERDESO® Foam be applied twice daily. However, based on the severity of the condition, individualized treatments may be necessary. As with other corticosteroids, therapy should be discontinued when control is achieved. If no improvement is seen within 4 weeks, reassessment of the diagnosis may be necessary. Treatment should not exceed 4 consecutive weeks.1

Q. What is the potency of VERDESO® Foam?

A: VERDESO® Foam is a low-potency topical corticosteroid containing 0.05% desonide per gram.1

Q. Can I occlude the affected area after applying VERDESO® Foam?

A: Occlusive dressings should not be used following the application of VERDESO® Foam. The treated area should be left open to the air. Conditions that augment systemic absorption include the application of the more potent steroids, use over large surface areas, prolonged use, and the addition of occlusive dressings. Therefore, patients applying a topical steroid to a large surface area or to areas under occlusion should be evaluated periodically for evidence of adrenal suppression.1

Q. Should I stop using VERDESO® Foam as soon as I see the condition improve?

A: Patients should be instructed to apply VERDESO® Foam as prescribed. If patients stop applying the medication, the condition may not resolve completely. As with other corticosteroids, therapy should be discontinued when control is achieved. If no improvement is seen within 4 weeks, reassessment of the diagnosis may be necessary. Treatment should not exceed 4 consecutive weeks.1

Q. What should I do if I miss a dose of VERDESO® Foam?

A: If a patient misses a dose of VERDESO® Foam, they should apply it as soon as they remember, and then resume their regular schedule. If it is time for the next application, they should apply only one dose and continue with the normal schedule. If several doses are missed, patients should consult a physician.

Q. Can VERDESO® Foam be used on pediatric patients?

A: Yes, VERDESO® Foam is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis in patients 3 months of age and older.1

Q. How is VERDESO® Foam supplied?
